About Gorgoneion Defense
Who We Are
Founded in 2018, Gorgoneion Defense was the brainchild of current UMD Mechanical Engineering undergrad John I. Boland after he finished his internship at JHU APL and received his first patent. We're a small and independent group of young and creative innovators striving to bring to life the best solutions that nobody else can.
A Protective Amulet
On Athena's Aegis, the face of Medusa is pressed into the bronze. The gorgon's fearful visage was used for protection as much as eight thousand years ago. The Hellenistic period saw its most prolific use in sculpture and bas-relief, as well as watching over generals like Alexander from around their necks in amulet form as the Gorgoneion.

Warfighting technology is changing, and there's a lot of room for improvement: we maintain a growing library of projects ready to be rushed to completion if needed.
